Google Friend Connect, Now Available in Oriya (Odia)

Google Friend Connect, the relatively simple service that lets your website’s visitors engage in social activities with their Google accounts (as well as those from AOL, Twitter, Plaxo and others) and contact lists, is adding support for dozens of languages today – 47 of them to be exact.

With over 5 million sites using Google Friend Connect to awaken and strengthen their communities, they wanted to make it easier for those of you who prefer languages other than English to take full advantage of it.

Google said its Friend Connect service will now support 47 different languages. This service allows the users to connect with their friends on different websites and blogs. With the main intention to connect social websites to non-social ones, Friend Connect represents and standardizes the content as well as the social apps. This service is available even in different Indian languages like Hindi, Marathi, Malayalam, Kannada, Oriya, Tamil, Bengali, Telugu and Gujarati.

Google Friend Connect is free to use just like Facebook Connect. However, Facebook scrapped the idea of Friend Connect pointing out at the privacy policies. Friend Connect is said to distribute Facebook user data to developers without the user's knowledge.
