Indian cricketer Pragyan Ojha & Karabi ties the Knot

Indian cricketer Pragyan Ojha ties the nuptial knot with Karabi Biswal at Mayfare Lagoon, Bhubaneswar.The marriage was held with complete Odia (Oriya) traditions, customs and rituals.

Marriage held at city-based posh hotel Mayfair and reception will be held on May 19 and a second reception will be thrown in Hyderabad on May 23. It should be noted that Ojha, who represents Hyderabad in Ranji Trophy and also plays for Hyderabad Deccan Chargers in IPL, met Karabi more than two years ago when she was in the city to pursue her PhD.

Karabi's parents are academicians. Karabee's father, Professor Kailash Chandra Baral who hails from Cuttack, is the director of an EFL University branch in Shillong Campus. She lives with her mother Professor Chanchala Naik Baral, an academician in English and Foreign Languages (EFL) University, Hyderabad.

Born on September 5, 1986 in Khurda district, Pragyan started playing cricket at Shahid Sporting Club in Bhubaneswar before leaving for Hyderabad. Subsequently, he became a leading spinner for the Hyderabad Ranji team and represents Deccan Chargers in the IPL.

"We are marrying in complete Odia (Oriya) tradition", Ojha told reporters.

Ojha, earlier in the day, went through several rituals including bathing in turmeric mixed water, putting up vermilion and sandal paste on his fore head and offering puja before the deity at his residence amidst chanting of "hula huli" (a tradional swaying of the tongue creating sound by womenfolk).

Friends and relatives were readying themselves to accompany the "barat" on the sprawling roads leading upto the Mayfare Lagoon, the venue of the marriage.

Indian, Chinese and Continental food have been ordered by the bride's family in the hotel for the members of the "barat", a chef of the hotel said.
